State Arts Agency Grant Making and Funding

SAA 2017 grant making map

NASAA has published the latest edition of its annual State Arts Agency Grant Making and Funding report, which summarizes statistical data that NASAA aggregates through its state arts agency (SAA) revenues surveys and from SAAs’ Final Descriptive Reports. The new report highlights data from fiscal year 2017 (the most recent available) reflecting the total number of grants and grant dollars SAAs awarded individually and collectively as well as the number of communities and grantees in each state that received SAA funds. Charts illustrate grants awarded by discipline category and grantee type. Regarding income, the report charts the fluctuations of total annual state arts agency revenue over an 18-year period, from 1990 to 2018.

You can further explore SAA grant-making trends and details though data visualizations featured on NASAA’s Grant Making page. NASAA’s Funding page, meanwhile, has visualizations and detailed reporting on SAA revenues. To request custom reporting or additional information for your state, contact NASAA Research Director Ryan Stubbs.
