D.C.: Art Unplugged
This summer, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) presented Art Unplugged, a performance series that showcased the talent of local performing artists. From mid-June to mid-August, the series presented 38 free shows hosted at nontraditional spaces throughout the city’s four quadrants. The intent of the series was to “unplug” artists from traditional venues with cover charges or age restrictions, and make their performances accessible to all residents. By doing this the DCCAH is building participation in the arts and widening visibility for the city’s arts and artists. DCCAH’s Art Unplugged video is one of the Commission’s monthly video spotlights.
