You Ask, NASAA Answers
NASAA receives and responds to many requests for information on a wide variety of arts, culture and economic topics. For the first half fiscal year 2022, NASAA staff fulfilled nearly 300 of these information requests from state and jurisdictional arts agencies (SAAs), partners, and the public. Responses included providing data to help SAAs support planning, advocacy and program design, and answering questions related to federal reporting and emergency COVID-19 funding. Twenty states requested a special service such as commissioned research, speaking engagements or in-depth technical assistance.
The majority of requests involved topics related to advocacy and federal reporting (around 15% each), followed by questions regarding diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) as well as state arts agency grant making (around 11% each). The largest share of requests were made by SAAs (91%). The National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) comprised the second largest group (4%).
