Arts Learning Database
The Oregon Arts Commission (OAC) recently launched a new statewide database tracking the levels of arts instruction offered to students in Oregon schools. Designed to promote public understanding of the extent of—and need for—arts learning, the database allows parents, educators, policymakers and advocates to learn what arts learning opportunities are offered in any Oregon school or district. Color-coded graphics chart offerings in the visual arts, music, theater, dance and media arts. The on-line database draws on Oregon Department of Education reports that bring schools into compliance with No Child Left Behind requirements. Yearly patterns and trends over time are being analyzed and summarized to illuminate where arts learning is strongest and what gaps need to be filled. For more information, see the press release or contact OAC Arts Education Coordinator Deb Vaughn.
