Report from Assembly 2010

NASAA Assembly 2010, which took place in October in Austin, Texas, was by all accounts and measures a smash hit. More than 300 participants came to connect, learn from each other, address current challenges, discuss solutions, and enjoy this dynamic city and its music and arts scene. NASAA extends special thanks to members of our host agency, the Texas Commission on the Arts, who couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating.

The Assembly 2010 website is the place to find proceedings of the sessions and a slideshow that will bring back memories and share some conference flavor. I hope Assembly 2010 participants came away with a reinforced sense of their value to their constituents and to the public, and are finding ways to continue to communicate that value. This month, I share my annual Executive Director’s Report from the conference, in which I describe several forces shaping the future of state arts agencies and suggest some strategies for addressing them.
