Did you know that state arts agencies invested more than $105 million in general operating support last year? These types of grants are one of the most flexible sources of revenue for organizations and can be used to support activities and operations in accordance with their particular needs and circumstances.
Historically, state arts agencies have distributed more than one-third of grant dollars through operating support. Besides direct grants, state arts agencies also provide services aimed at strengthening the nonprofit arts sector, such as capacity building services, technical assistance, and networking and peer learning opportunities.
NASAA’s new fact sheet, General Operating Support, provides a national overview of general operating support, including summary statistics and grant distribution by artistic discipline.
