Arizona: Honoring Our Service Members Grants
The Arizona Commission on the Arts (ACA) has a new grant program to support participatory arts and cultural experiences for active-duty members of the armed services, reservists, veterans and their families. The Honoring Our Servicemembers Grants, which range from $750 to $7,500 and have a one-to-one matching requirement, may be used for new or existing partnership programs serving participants of all ages in any arts discipline or in arts therapy. Eligible grant applicants are Arizona health and human service nonprofits, schools with tax-exempt status, school districts and local government agencies. Arts and cultural experiences support service members, veterans and their families as they navigate issues unique to military service. The grant program is an example of how state arts agencies can identify and reach out to underserved communities through partnerships with groups closely tied to those communities.
