Colorado: Folk Arts in the Classroom
The Colorado Council on the Arts (CCA) has made Ties That Bind: Folk Arts in the Colorado Classroomavailable on-line. The multimedia toolkit helps teachers incorporate Colorado’s folk arts and traditional art forms into the K-12 curriculum. The comprehensive toolkit contains written essays, lesson plans, lists of additional resources and audio and video content to help students better understand the different cultures of Colorado, the United States and the rest of the world. Specially designed to help educators address Colorado’s model standards in history, geography, reading and writing, visual art, music, and math, it also helps students realize that arts and culture exist within their own communities. To learn more about the toolkit, contact CCA Cultural Heritage Specialist Ronna Lee Sharpe.
