Massachusetts: Creative Transitions Program Evaluation
Creative Transitions is a project of the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) and the Hampshire Educational Collaborative (HEC) that linked arts groups with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services (DYS) facilities. A recent report and evaluation of the Creative Transitions project by the Center for Youth and Communities at Brandeis University found that the project was “an effective way that youth could manage their emotions and expand their horizons.” In the report, the evaluators conclude that “Creative Transitions demonstrated that arts programs, although very brief, can be valued by young people and DYS youth workers, and have the potential to produce an array of positive experiences and outcomes for young people in DYS facilities.” For more about Creative Transitions and the CYC/Brandeis Report, contact MCC Communications Coordinator Rob Watson.
