Value and Vitality at NASAA Assembly 2024
If there were one event that would help you to excel at serving the public in your state, network with colleagues from around the country who understand your challenges, and connect and collaborate with multiple federal agencies—all while being immersed in a vibrant and spirited arts scene—wouldn’t you hate to miss it?
The above and more are on offer at NASAA Assembly 2024, taking place October 23-26 in San Juan, Puerto Rico! The conference offers a rare chance to meet face-to-face with others who share similar responsibilities and understand the challenges and opportunities you face on a daily basis. All state arts agency staff and council members are encouraged to attend, as are regional arts organizations, federal agency representatives and citizen advocates.
NASAA Assembly 2024 sessions are designed with state arts agencies in mind, with timely topics intended to drive action such as:
- propelling the growth of creative economies
- using the arts to improve physical and mental health
- partnering across sectors to support communities
- serving underserved constituencies
- making programs accessible
- preparing for and managing emergencies
This year, we have an exceptional opportunity to network with federal representatives from the National Endowment for the Arts, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Hear about their ideas for incorporating arts and culture into their programs—and bring your questions.
Every NASAA Assembly carves out time for you to meet with your job-alike peers from state arts agencies far and wide. Our Peer Group gatherings offer staff and council members the chance to build professional relationships and learn from others who share similar responsibilities as you discuss issues pertinent to your group. New executive directors are invited to a roundtable session focusing on the needs of recently appointed leaders.
Puerto Rico is a living demonstration of how arts and culture are integral to community life, economic development and resiliency. Our NASAA Assembly 2024 host, the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, has played a major role in rebuilding the island’s arts and culture sector after natural disasters. They are lining up an exciting roster of Assembly artists and organizing opportunities for you to interact with community organizations and programs that are examples of San Juan’s flourishing arts and culture network.
NASAA Assembly 2024 is sponsored by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, Discover Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico Tourism Company, the National Endowment for the Arts and Artists Thrive.
Reserve your lodging and register for this unique professional development opportunity. Online registration closes Friday, October 4—but you can register in person on site. To support your attendance, we’ve prepared an editable Travel Justification document. We hope you can join us for a conference full of rich cultural experiences and thought-provoking content tailored to the needs of state arts agencies.
