State Arts Agency Leaders Featured on Arts Engines

For my NASAA Notes column this month, I am pleased to share this space with our incomparable board chair and former chair of the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, Omari Rush. In addition to his ongoing service chairing NASAA’s board of directors and Executive Committee, Omari recently had the opportunity to join Aaron Dworkin for an interview with Arts Engines.

Arts Engines is a program that highlights the perspectives of thought leaders who are creating significant impacts across the arts field. The show reaches over 100,000 audience members weekly and has a global reach. As Arts Engines’ creator and host, Aaron is an accomplished multidisciplinary artist, social entrepreneur, MacArthur Fellow and member of the National Council on the Arts. He is also a former council member of the Michigan Arts and Culture Council. As Aaron says, his guests on Arts Engines are “powering human creativity every day.”

In his interview with Aaron, Omari explores board engagement strategies, advancing equity and more. You can check out his interview below (approximately 16 minutes in length).

Additionally, NASAA board member and executive director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Michael Bobbitt, also joined Aaron for an Arts Engines conversation last year. It’s great to see the state arts agency community represented in this platform.

Enjoy!
