Dedicated Revenue Strategies

NASAA’s policy brief on dedicated revenue strategies has been updated with fiscal year 2015 numbers. This policy brief, previously titled State Arts Agency Supplemental Funding Strategies, gives information on the funding mechanisms state arts agencies have pursued beyond general fund appropriations. Current sources of dedicated funding for state arts agencies explored in this report include arts license plates, income tax checkoffs, special taxes and fees, and cultural trusts. The brief also includes policy considerations and success factors necessary to start or maintain these sources of funding.

NASAA maintains historical information on these dedicated revenue sources and can create customized reports for your state. The Dedicated Revenue Strategies section of our Funding page has more information on specific strategies. Contact Henry Clapp with any questions about NASAA’s funding data or to request customized information.
