Vermont: Art Fits Vermont
The Vermont Arts Council, in partnership with the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing, developed Art Fits Vermont, a statewide community arts project. Since the project began in April 2008, the arts council has distributed 60,000 15-inch wood and paper puzzle pieces to individuals, schools and community groups across the state. Participants in the project are from 172 towns in all of Vermont’s 14 counties and include 191 organizations and 146 schools. More than 60,000 people, or approximately 10% of Vermont’s population, have participated in this project. PuzzlePALOOZA, the culminating event of the project, taking place on July 11, 2009, is being held in conjunction with the Celebrate Champlain Festival and will include an official count to set the Guinness Record for the World’s Largest Puzzle and a live auction of artist-donated puzzle pieces to benefit the Vermont Arts Council. For more information about the project, contact Vermont Arts Council Communications and Development Director Diane Scolaro.
