Question: How much support do state arts agencies provide to individual artists?
Answer: State arts agencies awarded nearly 3,000 grants totaling $7.7 million to individual artists in fiscal year 2006. These awards, comprising 11% of grants and 3% of grant dollars, went to support various activities including fellowships, apprencticeships, artwork creation, residencies, exhibitions, performances, and professional development.
