Connecticut: Good to Great Program

Thanks to state legislation enacted in May 2014 authorizing a $10 million bond issue, the Connecticut Office of Arts and Historic Preservation has launched a new pilot grant program offering project support and capital investments to organizations with limited history of state funding. The overarching goal of the Good to Great program is to link Connecticut’s art, history and tourism in ways that enable cultural and historic sites to offer more compelling experiences. Through the pilot, the Office of Arts and Historic Preservation aims to help small and medium-sized organizations leverage local, regional and statewide cultural assets to the benefit of residents and out-of-state visitors alike, thereby encouraging tourism as well as homegrown state pride. Grants of $50,000 to $125,000 are available to organizations that promote art, culture, science or the history of Connecticut. They may be used for a variety of activities including construction, planning, marketing, and exhibit design and installation. In fiscal year 2016, the pilot awarded 20 grants totaling $1,990,386.
