NASAA's State Legislative Roundup 2018
NASAA recently released its State Legislative Roundup 2018, the latest iteration of its annual summary of state legislation important to state arts agencies and their constituencies. In highlighting more than 60 bills considered by state legislatures this year—which NASAA curated from more than 570 bills it reviewed—the report assesses current trends in cultural policy around the country and examines specific examples of legislation. It addresses bills introduced to affect SAA structure, governance and funding as well as programmatic priorities such as public art, arts education and the creative economy. New to this edition is a visual analysis of state legislative trends over the last four years.
NASAA’s survey of the state legislative landscape is informed by the knowledge of state arts agencies. We welcome news—now or at any point in the year—about past, current or pending legislation in your state. You can share your legislative leads by contacting NASAA Research Manager Paul Pietsch.
