New Jersey: Marketing the Arts

As part of its ongoing efforts to increase arts awareness and participation, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts partners with the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation on a multifaceted program called Discover Jersey Arts (DJA). DJA priorities include a comprehensive individual membership program, a list exchange and audience census, cooperative advertising opportunities, seasonal ad campaigns, and an on-line presence designed to attract new arts audiences, engage arts lovers and develop arts advocates. DJA’s on-line strategy includes targeted social media, an interactive events calendar, and a comprehensive directory. Social media tactics include the Culture Vultures blog and Jersey Arts podcast. Through its rotating team of bloggers, Culture Vultures presents short, entertaining stories about New Jersey’s arts scene. The Jersey Arts podcast provides more in-depth profiles of creative people and places. From the casts of hit shows to critically acclaimed film producers; from world renowned poets to classically trained musicians; from ground-breaking dance visionaries to cutting-edge fine artists, the blog and podcast connect people to what’s happening in the arts community. Both are regularly updated content features of JerseyArts.com, a one-stop-shop for all things arts in the Garden State that is on pace to record nearly 1 million site visits in 2012. To learn more, contact Discover Jersey Arts Program Director Jim Atkinson.
