President Trump has nominated Mary Anne Carter to be the 14th chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
In January, the White House appointed Carter as an interim advisor to the NEA. Previously, she served as NEA chairman during the first Trump administration, giving her deep knowledge of the agency’s mission and operations. She also has extensive public policy expertise, having worked on Capitol Hill and as a top advisor to Florida Gov. Rick Scott.
State arts agencies and former Chairman Carter enjoyed a fruitful working relationship during her previous leadership term. NASAA would applaud her return to the post.
Carter’s nomination has been submitted to the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, which traditionally leads the Senate confirmation process for NEA leadership.
