The Senate has confirmed Mary Anne Carter as the 14th chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
Since January 2025, Carter has been an senior advisor to the NEA. She previously served as NEA chairman during the first Trump administration, gaining deep knowledge of the agency’s mission, programs and operations. She also has extensive public policy expertise, having worked on Capitol Hill and as a top advisor to Florida Gov. Rick Scott. Her passion for the arts combined with her policy expertise equip Carter to provide strategic leadership for the NEA during the four-year term confirmed by the Senate.
State arts agencies and NASAA have enjoyed a highly fruitful working relationship with Chairman Carter. We applaud her return to the post.
