Cross-Sector Strategies for Creative Rural Development

In collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) is pleased to release a new Strategy Sampler exemplifying successful state programs and policies investing in rural development.

Cross-Sector Strategies for Creative Rural Development spotlights strategies at state arts agencies and regional arts organizations with innovative partnerships developing and strengthening rural places through the arts. The research provides insights into mechanisms for establishing such partnerships, tips for initiating engagement and knowledge resources available to advance rural strategies.

In rural and remote regions across the nation, the arts are working in concert with other sectors to strengthen the social fabric of communities, celebrate local culture, and nurture places where people want to live, play, work, worship and raise their families.

This Strategy Sampler is the third and final in a series highlighting state arts agency and regional arts organization initiatives to partner across sectors—and to leverage arts and creativity for solving community challenges. These tools share emerging practices in cross-sectoral programs, policies and practices that invoke the arts. This knowledge is aimed at helping state arts agencies and regional arts organizations to proliferate impactful programs and to refine ongoing work in these areas. For more cross-sector strategy samplers and other resources, visit NASAA’s Cross-Sector Collaborations web page.

Make sure to register for State Arts Agency Cross-Sector Strategies, our webinar taking place January 15, that discusses cross-sector examples, strategies and challenges.
