Florida: Culture Builds Florida Campaign
In October, the Florida Department of State announced the launch of the Culture Builds Florida campaign. The campaign is designed to promote Florida’s arts and cultural communities while growing public understanding about the comprehensive benefits of arts and culture to Florida. Conceived and organized by the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, the initiative seeks to involve not only the Division’s grant partners, but other organizations, businesses and individuals who engage in creative expression or support arts and culture.
The campaign launched during a conference that included nearly 200 people from the Florida arts, culture and business communities and was facilitated by Florida business, culture and legislative leaders. As part of the campaign, the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs is using social media to generate interest and connect with organizations and individuals in Florida’s cultural community, and has plans to launch a survey, Culture Count, that will access data about culture organizations and build a cultural registry. The Culture Builds Florida website contains a blog highlighting Florida arts and cultural organizations and offering language and data that organizations can use to raise awareness of their contributions to the state.
