Today, the Senate approved legislation providing funding for all federal agencies for the remainder of fiscal year 2023. Passage of this bill was far from certain in recent weeks, and it looked quite possible that the legislature would have to revert to another short-term spending bill (continuing resolution) to keep the government operating. Instead, the Senate was able to pass on a bipartisan basis appropriations that will last through FY2023.

The National Endowment for the Arts received an increase in funding to $207 million, an increase of $27 million over its current appropriation.

The House is expected to consider and pass this legislation shortly, before Congress adjourns until the next legislative term begins on January 3, 2023.
