State arts agencies support public art in a number of ways. Percent for art programs—which set aside a small portion of capital construction or renovation budgets for the purchase and installation of public art—are one effective way for states and territories to foster access to the arts and increase the aesthetic value of public places.
NASAA has several resources for learning more about percent for art policies and the 28 active statewide programs.
Legislation for each state’s program is available upon request.
