To help organizations with forward-looking and innovative planning, the Washington State Arts Commission plans to develop a community of practice on our website where organizations seeking services can peruse offerings and professionals that will help bring creative aging programming to their organizations. A grant and stipend program will be offered to professionals in the field for training and collaboration to help grow the number of trained professionals offering services. All resources will be housed on ArtsWA’s new Community of Care page on our website for ease of access and usability. The roster and lists will be a resource for care facilities and arts organizations to find qualified services, programs, and teaching artists experienced in working with elders; stipends will be provided to teaching artists for training to strengthen skills, gain experience and foster better collaboration, team-building and shared knowledge. The grant program for organizations will provide incentives and support for organizations that wish to engage in the important work of ensuring that elders have access to the healing benefits of the arts.
