Nebraska Arts Council: Creative Aging through the Arts

Project Description

The goals of the Creative Aging through the Arts program are to train a cadre of teaching artists on best practices when working with senior participants and achieve recruitment goals for additional artists who are diverse, bilingual or live in rural areas of the state, and develop an approach to delivering professional, sequential arts instruction across the state. Creative aging residency programs will take place virtually until it is safe to return to in-person activities. Given the vastness of rural Nebraska, program delivery options, once in-person, could include a “circuit rider” system, where a predetermined loop of residency locations are mapped out for an artist to travel and return to over a specific amount of time; or a “hub and spoke” system where the artist will be based in a central location and commute to outlying communities for consecutive days.
