Montana Arts Council’s project consists of a multifaceted approach toward plan development, focused on training and support services for those in our state who will ultimately carry out the work of creative aging programs. From an initial learning opportunity designed to create context for this work, to conducting a needs assessment, to building intersectional partnerships, the arch of the project will allow for deep and diverse engagement in creative aging work. Involvement by a cadre of stakeholders who emerge from the foundational learning session and the needs assessment process will lead to their assisting in designing a creative aging plan for Montana. Uniquely able to advance this work in the state, MAC will be bringing together stakeholders from within state government, Tribal colleges, statewide service organizations, the state’s network of nonprofits, teaching artists, organizational leadership and those who would be served by this programming. At the culmination of the proposed project activities, MAC will have engaged a diverse coalition to bring the topic of creative aging to the forefront of arts, granting and programming conversations across the state, inviting change and empowering project participants as ambassadors for this work.
