Idaho Commission on the Arts: Creative Aging for Idaho's Veterans

Project Description

The Idaho Commission on the Arts and Idaho Division of Veterans Services have partnered to provide creative aging services for Idaho’s senior veterans. To accomplish this, the agencies, in consultation with Lifetime Arts, will conduct this training initiative to prepare Idaho teaching artists to deliver sequential arts instruction to the residents of Idaho’s Veterans Homes. The Arts Commission and Veterans Services will review the arts education needs, resources and assets of Idaho’s Veterans Home facilities and resident populations. One Veterans Home facility will be selected for inaugural program implementation, coordinating with the facility to define the inaugural program focus and timeline. The arts commission will identify potential community arts assets, including teaching artists and arts organizations. Lifetime Arts will provide online training in creative aging for the teaching artists and program staff. Subsequent to the training initiative, inaugural creative aging programming will be provided at the designated Veterans Home, either on-site or online as necessary, with the expectation that programming will expand later to all Idaho Veterans Home facilities.
