DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities: Create and Thrive!

Project Description

Create and Thrive! is a pilot initiative with a focus on developing a community of practice among a cohort of teaching artists currently working across a variety of ages and disciplines in the District of Columbia. A desired outcome of the program is to introduce, develop and codify an understanding of the needs of, and skills in working with, older adults through the arts. The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities is partnering with Arts for the Aging (AFTA) to offer this professional development opportunity to 10 teaching artists in D.C. The program will occur within a seven-month period where selected teaching artists will participate in professional development workshops, curriculum building and on-site learning. Teaching artists will then be placed at a local senior day center to offer learning programs in a variety of art disciplines.
