Arizona Arts Commission: Investing in Rural and BIPOC Creative Aging Communities

Project Description

Over the past five years, the Arizona Commission on the Arts has developed a strong platform for creative aging. The Investing in Rural and BIPOC Creative Aging Communities project will grow that work, engaging a cohort of 10 arts organizations throughout the state in the development of comprehensive creative aging programs (or deepening of current creative aging programing) within their organization. The project will support organizations in the discovery of natural connections between existing programs and older adult participants and equip organizations with new frameworks and ideas for developing, expanding or deepening creative aging partnerships and initiatives. Combining professional development, assets and needs assessments, and customized consultations, the initiative is designed to encourage experimentation, center the participating communities’ assets, and support each organization in developing a plan aligned with its organizational mission.
