Experience Omaha’s vibrant arts community through Creative Excursions, selected tours to three distinguished cultural venues. These visits offered participants a unique opportunity to gain fresh perspectives on innovative programming, community engagement and artistic excellence. With transportation provided and space limited, the excursions were designed to enrich professional practice while fostering meaningful connections among peers. Tours took place on Thursday afternoon, November 13.

Excursion #1: El Museo Latino

Visitors are invited to experience a unique tour and presentation at El Museo Latino, the Midwest’s first Latino art and history museum and cultural center. This engaging opportunity highlights the museum’s world-class permanent and traveling exhibitions, celebrating the richness of Latino art and culture from local, national and international perspectives. Participants will enjoy an inside look at bilingual educational programs, interactive workshops and dynamic demonstrations that bring the exhibits to life. The presentation also offers a glimpse into the museum’s vibrant calendar of ongoing classes in art, theatre, dance and music, as well as its signature performances and concerts. This is more than a museum visit—it’s an immersive cultural journey that inspires connection, learning and celebration.

Excursion #2: Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts + KANEKO

The adventure continues at KANEKO, an interdisciplinary cultural hub founded by artist Jun Kaneko and his wife Ree. Set within three beautifully restored historic warehouses in Omaha’s Old Market, KANEKO offers a truly unique experience where art meets science, philosophy, entrepreneurship and more. Guests will explore exhibitions and programs designed to spark curiosity, ignite dialogue and open minds to new ways of thinking—making KANEKO the perfect place to end an unforgettable day of discovery.
