NASAA surveys state arts agencies twice yearly for updated appropriations and revenue information, and maintains historical information back to the 1960s.

Supplemental Appropriations for COVID-19
As states continue to address and recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, many are recognizing the role arts and culture play in revitalization and are allocating additional funding to state arts agencies, arts and cultural organizations, and creative businesses and workers. These allocations—using both state general funds and American Rescue Plan Act dollars—often are appropriated through the state legislature or are created through executive action and distributed as grants. Dedicated Revenue Strategies
State legislatures use a mixture of strategies to provide public support for state arts agencies (SAAs), diversify their resources and accomplish specific policy goals. By far the largest state funding source for SAAs—currently and historically—is state general funds. However, state legislatures have enacted a variety of other funding mechanisms to provide public-sector support for their SAAs.
