New York: Media Arts Map
The New York Media Arts Map v3 is a new on-line tool of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to help connect media artists, the organizations supporting them and the people interested in the creative potential of new technologies as a media art form. First conceptualized in 2008, the New York Media Arts Map v3 is the result of a three-year study on the sustainability and impact of independent media arts groups. Recently relaunched, the map is an interactive website that facilitates connections and collaborations among stakeholders. With a user-friendly interface, the map helps to locate pertinent activities, services and networks available around New York state. It is searchable by event, service and organization type. The website also features a calendar of funding opportunities, a directory of media arts consultants and links to a number of on-line social-networking groups for members of the media arts community. In addition, the site—which is a project of NYSCA and managed by Wave Farm, a media arts organization—is developing an archive of documents from relevant convenings and other research resources. For more information, contact NYSCA Program Director, Electronic Media, Film & Visual Arts Karen Helmerson.
