Florida: Diversity & Inclusion Awards Program
The Florida Division of Cultural Affairs (DCA) has launched a new program to encourage the state’s arts and cultural programming to be as inclusive and diverse as possible. Through its Diversity & Inclusion Awards Program, DCA will honor the individuals, nonprofit organizations and public agencies making great strides to this end by awarding them a grant of $500, $750 or $1,000 and by highlighting their successes at the 2016 Convening Culture conference. In addition, DCA will present on its website details about awardees’ programs and describe them as model efforts for addressing demographic, socioeconomic, cultural heritage, sexual orientation, age and/or accessibility issues in the arts. Awardees may use the reinvestment grants to cover the costs of consultants, professional development, marketing, equipment and staff salaries. Citizens for Florida Arts, Inc., DCA’s statutorily authorized citizen-support organization, is managing the program on behalf of DCA and is currently accepting nominations in five categories: Minimal Resources, Sustained Investment, Extra Mile, Innovation and Collaboration. Awards will be announced in January 2016. Find out more from DCA Operations Manager Rachelle Ashmore.
