Assistant to the President and Board Liaison
The assistant to the president and CEO and board liaison provides direct day-to-day support, acting as the president’s right hand and taking on ongoing and varied projects as needed. The goal of the assistant is to help the president and CEO be a stronger and more effective leader by creating capacity for her to invest her time on the agency’s most critical needs and opportunities. This individual performs a variety of complex and routine clerical, administrative and programmatic tasks. The assistant also serves as the president’s liaison to the NASAA board of directors. Duties include:
Schedule, Task and Communications Management
- Proactively and accurately manage all incoming and outgoing correspondence for the president’s office (includes email and snail mail)
- Coordinate and manage the president’s schedule, calendar and tasks
- Coordinate and manage the president’s travel arrangements and itineraries, expense reports and other logistical details
- Manage the preparation, production and distribution of the president’s reports, articles, presentations and speeches (includes writing assignments as needed)
- Manage research and information gathering as needed by the president
- Manage special projects as assigned by the president (often related to board, committee and member support, public relations, external affairs, policy, and advocacy)
Board and Committee Support
- Serve as the president’s administrative liaison with the board of directors and members
- Support the president in the planning and execution of board, executive committee and governance committee meetings
- Prepare and distribute materials for these meetings
- Draft agendas, minutes and summaries of these meetings
- Handle logistics for these meetings
Member Support
- Facilitate and track regular communication between the president and members
- Coordinate high-level member assistance requests of the president
- Coordinate and track fee-for-service engagements by the president
- Assist with fee-for-service negotiations
- Assist with the tracking and reporting of in-kind contributions of time, travel and other donations that support NASAA’s work and events
- Other duties as assigned by the president and CEO
Key Working Relationships
- Reports to president and CEO
- Works in close consultation with chief staff officers
- Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with NASAA’s board, members, staff and partners
Salary and Benefits
The assistant to the president and board liaison is a full-time, salaried (exempt) position including benefits. This is a manager level position; the salary range for NASAA managers is $55K – $80K. Starting salary depends on qualifications and experience.
