Today, the Biden administration released its first budget request to Congress. Within the nearly $6 trillion proposal is a funding request for the National Endowment for the Arts of $201 million, an increase of almost $35 million over the agency’s current level.
This welcome news is an important first step in the fiscal year 2022 appropriations process, as the Democratically controlled Congress will value the President’s support while writing the appropriations bill for the agency.
Congress goes on recess this evening. When they return in June, the formal appropriations process will begin. We will be in touch with you then to discuss ways to support the President’s strong statement of support for the arts and the Endowment!
