Nestled along the banks of the Tennessee River, Chattanooga provides a vibrant conference setting. Assembly 2008 participants will enjoy an infusion of public art, sweeping green spaces, parks and walkways along the river, and a tribute to the community's Cherokee heritage - all part of the city's $120 million 21st Century Waterfront Plan.   • The Hunter Museum of American Art--the southeast's largest collection of American art

  • The Bluff View Art District, with distinctive shops, restaurants, B&Bs and spectacular scenic views
  • The new Holmberg Pedestrian Bridge linking First Street with the entrance to the Hunter Museum of American Art
  • The Passage, which is the nation's largest public art project celebrating Cherokee history and culture

There will be learning and networking opportunities for every state arts agency staff and council member. A full menu of peer groups will be meeting (stay tuned for more details), and the agenda will address a full spectrum of policy and leadership topics. CONFERENCE OFFERINGS
Designed to both inform and inspire, the agenda will include briefing sessions (back by popular demand) as well as workshops, featured artists and speakers. Agenda details will be posted on the NASAA Web site throughout the summer. Whether you are a staff member or volunteer, Assembly 2008 will be a singular opportunity to connect with your colleagues, to pick up new ideas and to experience a welcoming and rewarding learning community.

ACCOMMODATIONS
The Chattanooga Marriott
is connected to the state-of-the-art Chattanooga Convention Center, which is where the majority of sessions will be held. The Chattanooga Convention Center has been named one of the top 10 "green, environmentally friendly" facilities in the country, so you'll enjoy the surroundings.

Gadugi is the name of the five Native American artists who produced the artworks at The Passage. Gadugi is a Cherokee word that means "coming together" or "working together" - values which also will infuse our Assembly 2008 gathering.
